Recently I visited Amsterdam street market famous with the name Albert Cuyp, something you must see if you are coming to Holland.

Over 100 years old, there’s no place like the Albert Cuyp street market to find your typical Amsterdam sense of humor and laid back atmosphere. Your day out in Amsterdam won’t be complete without a visit to Holland’s most popular street market. Since 1905 the “Cuyp” fascinates Amsterdam’s inhabitants as well as culinary amateurs, passers-by or people looking for a bargain, making a day trip or tourists… anyone, for that matter. At the Albert Cuyp market you’ll find everything, fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, flowers and plants as well as beautiful fabrics, trendy clothing, fine leather ware as well as jewellery. And also don’t miss out on Amsterdam very famous street food ‘baked syrup waffles’. You can have a coffee in a traditional Amsterdam café or in a highly modern pub. You’ll find the statue of Holland’s popular singer André Hazes at the corner of first Sweelinck street. With it’s 260 market stands, Albert Cuyp is Holland’s largest street market offering a variety of things to see.

To get there

Public transport is the best way to get to the Albert Cuyp street market. Coming from Amsterdam Central Station, you may take tram lines 4,16, 24 or 25 to get there. If you prefer come by car, it’s best to use one of the six Park and Ride facilities.
